SURROUND FOR BROADCAST 2006: THIRD ANNUAL SURROUND BROADCAST SEMINAR RETURNS TO LAS VEGAS

CMP Entertainment Media, producer of Surround Professional, Pro Sound News, and the annual Surround Conference, has announced that Surround for Broadcast 2006 will take place at the Alexis Park Hotel on April 23, 2006. Surround sound pioneer Dolby, Inc. has again joined the conference as a premiere sponsor.

As it has for the past two years, the Surround Broadcast conference will provide real-world advice and techniques on capturing, mixing, and transmitting 5.1-channel audio. Moderators and speakers will include some of the biggest names in broadcast audio and surround technology.

“The HD broadcast movement is all about creating a more enticing consumer experience,” states Frank Wells, program chair of the event and Editor of Surround Professional and Pro Sound News. “This new technology also allows a substantial upgrade in audio — from stereo to immersive surround sound. For broadcasters, HD brings a whole new world of technical considerations. This seminar will help broadcasters and engineers provide their audiences with the best possible audio experience.”

Topics to be covered at the event include:

  • Surround infrastructure
  • Metadata management
  • Loudness and dynamic range standards
  • Practical miking for surround broadcasts
  • Creative production solutions
  • HD Radio and surround
  • Surround mixing

In addition to the seminar’s comprehensive panel discussions, attendees will also have the opportunity to experience the latest broadcast surround tools and to network with their peers in an amicable environment.

Admission is $30 per person, which includes access to all the seminars and technology displays, as well as lunch. Tickets will be $40 at the door.

Registration and a preliminary schedule are available online at www.surroundpro.com.
