Departments first-ever avid world and pro tools conference announced

This site offers surround professionals an opportunity to exchange information, voice their opinions, and get their production questions answered by their peers. This was created for you to discuss issues pertaining to the surround sound revolution.

Sound designers and video editors looking to increase their technical knowledge and creativity, share experiences with colleagues, learn tips from well-known industry professionals and strengthen their networking opportunities can accomplish all these objectives at the first-ever Avid World and Pro Tools Conference. To be held October 7 to 10, 2001 at the New Yorker Hotel, the four-day event also includes a two-day expo. The conference will include four parallel tracks of 70-plus educational classes, keynote speeches, and networking events designed to offer users all the information and contacts they need to more effectively use the full range of Avid’s tools and technology, including Pro Tools, Media Composer, and Symphony.

Mindshare Ventures, a producer of vendor-specific audio and video user conferences, and Future Media Concepts, the nation’s largest Avid Authorized Education Center, organized the conference, in cooperation with Avid and Digidesign. The event marks the first time in nearly five years that Avid users have been assembled for such an event.

The conference will have seminars conducted by actual users. One of those users is Mark Goldblatt, A.C.E., an Academy-Award-nominated motion picture editor and longtime Avid user whose credits include this summer’s blockbuster Pearl Harbor, as well as Hollow Man, True Lies, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and The Rock. Goldblatt will deliver one of the conference’s keynote speeches, and lead two Master Classes on film editing.

Also scheduled as a keynote speaker is Kevin “She’kspere” Briggs, the Grammy-winning producer of TLC’s “No Scrubs” song, who’s also worked with Destiny’s Child, *N’SYNC, Mariah Carey, Sinead O’Connor, and Boyz II Men.
