20th Century Fox Dubs with Soundmaster ION
20th Century Fox has purchased six Soundmaster ION systems, complete with ATOM control hardware, for its new post-production sound complex. Three of the systems have been installed in the Howard Parks, John Ford, and Robert Wise Dubbing Theaters, while a seventh ION system has already been in use for over two years in the 20th Century Fox Newman Scoring Stage.
The Sci/Tech Academy Award-winning ION system integrates diverse technologies from a single user interface. Fox chose ATOM Series 1200 hardware for its dubbing stages, providing control over 12 external devices, in addition to those that require biphase and timecode control. Three Series 4000 platforms were acquired for transfer room operations.
The first project to be mixed with Soundmaster ION at Fox is the feature film Anna and the King, starring Jodi Foster, the music score for which was also recorded with ION in the Newman Scoring Stage
