“Saturday Night Live” 25th Anniversary DVD Produced by Metropolis
Metropolis DVD, a leading DVD production studio, recently completed production of the DVD release of “Saturday Night Live: 25 Years of Laughs.” Planning for the DVD portion of the budget began well in advance of the actual show, with production starting immediately after the broadcast on Sept. 26. The project was completed on Oct. 15.
A number of additional DVDs are currently in production or in the planning stages, with release scheduled for the first quarter of the year 2000, according to Metropolis co-founder, David Anthony.
“We were impressed by the high technical standards at Metropolis DVD and its reputation for delivering a great product,” says Stacey Foster, coordinating producer for the program. “DVD is an increasingly important distribution format and it was critical for us to make certain that the production values incorporated on the DVD were comparable to the show’s overall production values.”
The “Saturday Night Live” DVD features 160 minutes of programming with guest appearances by many former hosts and cast members. A five-minute music-video-like montage of never- before-released behind-the-scenes footage and excerpts is also included. It was produced using the newer high-capacity dual-layer DVD-9 format.
