Rock Legend Peter Frampton Mixes new DVD/HDTV Project on SSL Axiom-MT
Rock legend Peter Frampton is set to explode onto the DVD and HDTV scene with a new live concert project for Image Entertainment. The system of choice to mix this project was the 96-channel Solid State Logic Axiom-MT digital multitrack console recently installed at Backstage at Sound Stage Studios. The MT streamlined the mix to accommodate the various release formats planned for this project.

“The MT is an amazing piece of equipment,” says Frampton. “The console sounds great, has incredible flexibility, but, most of all, the instant reset function, allowing the entire board to be reconfigured with the push of a button, is the best feature. We had ten days to turn this project around and it could not have reached this level of excellence without the MT.”

The project, recorded live at Detroit’s Pine Knob Amphitheater, was captured in HDTV format for picture with multitrack audio. From there, releases were prepared for audio CD with a stereo track, DTS DVD with a 5.1 surround track only, DVD with picture and 5.1 surround track, and VHS.
