Metalworks Builds 5.1 Mix Room with SSL Console
Metalworks Recording Studios — a recording, mixing, and post facility serving the Canadian entertainment market — is celebrating its twentieth year in business by building Studio 6, a new 5.1 surround mix room featuring an 80-channel Solid State Logic 9000 J Series console. The console, which includes the SL 959 eight-track multi-format surround monitor system option, is scheduled to go online in April for a DVD remix of the ’80s Canadian supergroup, Triumph.
“Since we announced the 9000 as the centerpiece of the new studio, we have had immediate and fantastic feedback from the entire industry,” says Metalworks owner Gil Moore. “We are even getting congratulations calls from producers and engineers anxious to work the 9K. Usually you get congratulations for winning an award. With the 9000, you get congratulations just for installing it. We are absolutely thrilled with the response.”Metalworks has served superstars from all styles of music, including David Bowie, The Cranberries, Anne Murray, Mark Wahlberg, The Tea Party, The Moffatts, Tom Cochrane, Len, Paul Brandt, Burton Cummings, and DEFJAM hip hop star Ja Rule.
