Marcus Theatres to Acquire Elgin, Illinois, Fox 14 Theatre
Marcus Theatres Corporation, a division of The Marcus Corporation, has reached an agreement with Mainstreet Theatres, Inc., of Elgin, Illinois, to acquire the Elgin Fox 14 theatre located at the corner of Randall Road and U.S. Highway 20. Terms of the transaction, which is scheduled to close March 25, were not disclosed. The acquisition marks a milestone in eclipsing the 400-screen level and boosts the chain’s screen count to 411.
“Based on the overwhelming popularity of stadium seating at our other theatres, we know Elgin-area moviegoers will be delighted with our planned additions and stadium seating retrofits,” said Bruce J. Olson, president of Marcus Theatres Corporation. “Marcus Theatres’ high-backed UltraView stadium seats guarantee that each seat is a great seat with a clear, unobstructed view of the screen. These renovations, along with the latest in digital surround sound and other amenities, will make the new Marcus theatre in Elgin a state-of-the-art theatre.”
