Sun Microsystems Demonstrates Solutions for the New Digital Millenium

Sun Microsystems, Inc. showcased real world solutions with premier partners at the NAB ’99 (National Association of Broadcasters) event in Las Vegas, Nevada, at Sun’s booth (#S5616). Sun is unveiling its end-to-end vision for media centric business and consumer services in the new millenium by combining best-in-class software and PCI card solutions for Sun’s servers, storage, and desktops, with interactive Java(TM) technology-enabled set-tops and appliances.

Solutions for the Sun platform displayed at this year’s NAB include DVS Digital Video’s ClipStationPRO, a dual-stream, realtime, uncompressed D1-D5 4:2:2 video PCI I/O board which also handles four channels of uncompressed AES/EBU audio and has an RS-422 port. DVS will also show a demo of the MovieVideoHD, a single-stream, uncompressed HDTV I/O subsystem with eight channels of uncompressed AES/EBU audio, built-in color space converter for YUV or RGB analog HD monitor output. It is fully DTV compliant (1080i,720p, 480p).
