studio bau:ton Supports LAUNCH in Coast to Coast Expansion
studio bau:ton recently completed a new state-of-the-art audio control room for LAUNCH Media, Inc. at their headquarters in Santa Monica, California. LAUNCH, a digital media company, produces unique music and entertainment content for its website, LAUNCH.com, as well as other properties.
“The Audio Control Room functions as an acoustic environment in which to record and playback audio recorded from an adjacent sound stage,” says Peter Grueneisen, principal at studio bau:ton. The new room was built to enlarge and acoustically improve the existing audio control room. This room was built around a Euphonix CS3000 console, contains an outboard equipment credenza, rear producer’s area, and nearby machine room for support. studio bau:ton, and affiliated company TEC:ton Engineering consulted with LAUNCH for implementation of all equipment and operations of both the audio and video recording systems.
Adhering to a water theme, studio bau:ton’s design solution was to add blue fabric that shimmers on the ceiling and front wall to heighten the look and feel of an aquarium. Fabric and custom wood diffusers contrasted with blue tones to add warmth to the room. The studio is fully equipped with a custom 5.1 Surround Sound speaker monitoring system designed by TEC:ton Engineering, a systems integration company.
“LAUNCH is definitely unique among other studios in that we offer artists and celebrities the opportunity and experience to perform or be interviewed in a high-tech, acoustically designed blue-screen shooting facility, coupled with a cutting edge control room,” says Ian Dittbrenner, director of audio for LAUNCH. “This way, they know what we produce will be of the highest quality.”
To date, interviews and performances recorded at LAUNCH Studios include Blink 182, Brian McKnight, Bone Thugs and Harmony, Robbie Kregier of the Doors, Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull, Kenny Wayne Shepard, Shannon Curfman, Gomez, Cypress Hill, Widespread Panic, Meredith Brooks, Run-DMC, Jason Falkner, as well as movie stars Ben Affleck, Denise Richards, and Gwyneth Paltrow.
