DB Sound Mixes Live Cheap Trick DVD on a Panasonic DA7 Digital Mixer
Cheap Trick will release an interactive DVD and CD later this summer, projects developed from four nights of live performances at the Metro Club in Chicago. The DVD project is being mixed by Harry Witz of DB Sound in 5.1 surround sound on a Panasonic DA7 digital mixer. Witz also engineered the live CD to be released.
In deciding which Digital console to use for the project, Witz chose the DA7 after a number of comparisons. Witz says of the DA7, The mic pres sound better, the EQ is more musical, and the dynamics work as good as what I am used to on an SSL. Also, the DA7s scene snapshot and recallable scene memory enabled Witz to create mixes from four different nights of music and different audiences with sonic continuity
