Article in Wall Street Journal Features Holmans Developments in 10 Speaker Surround Technology
In a July 8, 1999 article in The Wall Street Journal, DIGITS: Gambits and gadgets in the world of technology, Tom Holman is featured as the sound wizard bringing new depth to the movie theater and high-end home stereo listening experience. As expressed in the Wall Street Journal:
Not content with conventional surround sound, Mr. Holman has created a system that spreads sound around 10 speakers and two subwoofers–twice the number in todays best multichannel systems for consumers. The effect: Listeners sense sound above and below them, not just around the sides.
Mr. Holman recently demonstrated the system publicaly for the first time to about 100 people in a San Antonio electronics store. His Los Angeles-based company, TMH Corp., plans to test the system with other retailers and consumers this summer with an eye toward licensing it to manufacturers.
