Ednet Announces New CEO; Founder Kobayashi Retires, Gustafson Succeeds Him
Entertainment Digital Network, Inc. (ednet), a subsidiary of Visual Data Corporation, announced that its founder, Tom Kobayashi, has stepped down as chief executive officer of the eight-year-old company. In a smooth management transition, president and COO David Gustafson has assumed the CEO role as of July 1.
Kobayashi’s vision for ednet began while he was still at LucasFilm in the early ’90s and, joined by Lucas associate Tom Scott, he formed the company in June 1992. ednet’s first offices were at Skywalker Ranch, where shortly after the company’s launch, Gustafson joined the two industry veterans to head up marketing and sales. Kobayashi’s professional experience spans more than forty years in the motion picture and television industry, and he will remain very active with the company, opening up a Hollywood office this month to concentrate on ednet services for the film and television industry.
Gustafson had served as ednet’s president and COO since March 1996, and has been a director of the company since its inception.
