Atlantic Technology Debuts Flush-Mount In-Wall Surround Speaker
Atlantic Technology has introduced a flush mount in-wall dipole surround speaker designed to complement its IWTS (In-Wall Theater Systems) System 10, as well as its System 170 and 270 free-standing speakers. The new IWTS 10 SR is a decor-friendly surround speaker whose performance will enhance any matrixed or discrete digital surround format. The IWTS 10 SR can be flush-mounted in any standard wall, including those constructed using two-by-four studs with 16 inch centers. With its paintable frame and gently curved metal grille, it will all but disappear in a room.

“This is the first reasonably-priced in-wall speaker that will not embarrass the serious audiophile,” says Peter Tribeman, president of Atlantic Technology. “It makes it possible to have a serious home theater sound system, without traumatizing the family decorator.”

The IWTS 10 SR is a Frequency Enhanced Dipole that creates a very smooth and realistic sense of ambience with a diffuse, non-directional soundfield at mid and high frequencies. At low frequencies, below 200 Hz, one woofer is gradually muted to avoid bass cancellation. This speaker is a perfect companion to many Atlantic Technology home theater systems, or even those of other manufacturers. The driver complement consists of two 4.5″ IMG (Injection Molded Graphite) woofers and two 3/4″ modified dome tweeters. A major component of the 10 SR’s appeal is its flexibility and ease of installation. Mounting is accomplished with a separate rear bracket that attaches directly to the wall. Included “wings” transform the bracket into a full “rough in” kit, when needed for new construction. Painted white metal grilles and included paint shields allow easy custom finishes.

The Atlantic Technology IWTS 10 SR will be available in August with an estimated price of $799 per pair.
